Making
Music

The Senior Choir
performs traditional classic choral works by such great masters as
Mozart, Handel, Bach, and Brahms, as well as works by Andrew Lloyd
Webber, Ralph Vaughn Williams, John Rutter, and
other contemporary composers.
Anyone wishing to join is
invited to come to
rehearsals Sunday mornings at 9 am in the sanctuary from the Sunday
after Labor Day to the Sunday before Memorial Day. We also rehearse at
6 pm Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary from September through May.
The Senior Choir presents a
special worship
service each All Saints Day, November 1, in memory of all who have gone
before us.
Youth Music -
Our young people(Grades K-8) meet every Sunday for music from 11:30-11:55 am in
the Vestry .
The
youth practice and perform music connected with the Sunday school
curriculum. They
present two musicals a year, one at
Christmas and one in the spring.
Young Adult Musical - As
part of the church's outreach ministry to young adults, our music director and Connie and Cami Carter plan a musical each spring using
show tunes with a spiritual component. The cast is made up of
young adults in their twenties and thirties. They have performed "Songs
for a New World" by Jason Robert Brown, and "The Missing Piece Meets
the Big O" a collage of melodies and scenes about people looking for
their "missing piece" inspired by the children's book written by Shel
Silverstein. In 2009 they performed "The Store", a collage of songs
about a year in the lives of young people who visit The Store in Orono. 2010 saw a departure from this format with a concert entitled "Nestor and Friends", but still featuring show tunes and young adults.
The Fellowship
Singers
is a
group open to anyone interested in singing a
variety of music from traditional hymns to gospel to folk music. The
group was formed to explore different types of worship/spiritual music
and to perform in the community as well as occasionally in our Sunday
morning services. The Fellowship Singers rehearse every Wednesday at 7:15
pm in the MacKenzie Room, September to June. In 2010, they performed at Mainwood Apartments
for an enthusiastic audience. Come join the fun!
