organist

Mary Peters is originally from Aroostook County, Maine, where she learned her love of music taking piano lessons as a young child. Her musical talents were further nurtured when she was chosen to accompany various school choirs in Middle School and High School. While music would eventually become her chosen profession, she studied and became an elementary school teacher. As a hobby, she maintained her interest in music through weekly church services and serving as the local Rotary Club pianist.

Although she taught for many years, she made the choice to pursue music full time and studied in the Midwest. While there she was an organist and choir director at a Christian school. Upon completion of her studies, she returned to New England.

Through the years, she has held full time or part time positions as a church organist and/or choir director in Massachusetts and now in Maine. Her decision to return to her home state brought her closer to her aging parents and opened the door to becoming the organist here at the Church of Universal Fellowship.
